Environmental Microbiomics Research Center (EMRC) was established in 2017 at the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Sun Yat-sen University. There are four core laboratories: data science laboratory (DSL), microbial ecology laboratory (MEL), systems microbiology laboratory (SML) and environmental application laboratory (EAL) at the EMRC with an ultimate goal to promote interdisciplinary research and technology development. Our research is focused on environmental microbiomes, microbial ecology, bioinformatics and related fields, aiming to understand the diversity, composition, function, interaction, dynamics and evolution of microbial communities in the environment. We are also developing synthetic ecology and systems microbiology theories and environmental microbiome technologies towards the improvement of environmental quality and human health.
